On the road at last

I had a lovely farwell dinner on Saturday with my host family. I cooked german food (Spätzle) and my hostmom made a Pavlova (similar to Meringes) for dessert. I worked Saturday morning and spent the rest of the day talking to some friends on the internet, washing my clothes and packing.

Saying goodbye was really hard, because I had such a good time with them and it just felt like home. They gave me a lovely handmade card with pictures of them and I also got a “Tiffany´s & Co. necklace. Cella asked me a thousand times if I really have to go and why I couldn´t stay. Annie even drove me to the city and dropped me of in front of William´s appartment. When they left, Cella pulled the window down and screamed: “Don´t go Sarah“…… so sweet!!

At about 9pm I went to Side bar (for the last time) with William and Annie. I had an amazing Steak with Chips and 2 beers there. But it didn´t help me to fall asleep on the bus. For the first few hours I kind of felt asleep just to wake up a few minutes later. It was so uncomfortable. I just couldn´t find a good sleeping position.

But it was worth it. I love Byron Bay. I´m only here for a few hours and I already felt in love with this place. It is better than my expectations.
I met Hilary and a friend of hers in the town for a coffee. They have a lot of little café´s, shops and bars which I like a lot. And it´s really nice to arrive in a random place and meet up with someone you know! Williams is staying in a different hostel, about 20min. away.
My hostel is in front of the beach. It has a pool (I already swam some laps in it) and my room mates are really nice. One guy from Perth and a lovely girl from New Jersey. We had a big laugh when we found out that we both love French guys ;-). (The girl and me of course ;-)
Annie (my irish friend, not my host mom ;-) is going to arrive tomorrow afternoon and I´m really excited. She´s going to stay in my room as well.

Bisous Sarah ;-)
